McGregor Elementary

The Rotarians at the Springfield Metro chapter are proud supporters of McGregor Elementary School. McGregor is a title one school, with seventy percent of students coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. When given the opportunity to choose rewards from the H.A.B.I.T. store, students are just as likely to choose practical every day necessities (hygiene items, clothes, etc.) as a toy or candy—Underlining the importance of our efforts.

Working in concert with Sara Shevchuk and the other faculty at McGregor Elementary as well as other community partners, we help sponsor numerous programs for the students and say thank you to the wonderfully dedicated teachers within the Springfield community.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • The H.A.B.I.T. Store. Every month the children earn dollars as reward for living up to the core values the H.A.B.I.T. program tries to instill. Once a month Rotarians (in partnership with Cents of Pride) volunteer to host a store so these children can purchase their well-earned reward.
  • MAP Testing Snack Packs. Providing healthy snacks to ensure the children perform their best.
  • Pizza and Ice Cream Party. A well-deserved reward for the students after completion of the MAP test.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week. Partnering with local restaurants to say thank you to the teachers.

Donations of food, hygiene items, and unwrapped toys

to the H.A.B.I.T. Store are always welcome!
